Family Constitution
Sets the standards, values and mission of the family.
A family constitution is a document that sets forth the family’s values and principles, defines the objectives and goals of the family, and determines how the family will make key decisions (such as voting rights & committee appointments). One important mission of our families should be to convert the annual family reunion into a family annual meeting. This meeting should have a planned agenda to discuss all aspects of the family including member’s well-being, individual and group financial goals and accomplishments, plans to update insurance coverage, update trust documents, discuss education and other family plans for the upcoming year. Structure Hint: A republic (rather than a democracy) is the best form of governance where members elect a representative for certain tasks.
